The unjustifiable Israeli demolition campaign in the Occupied Palestinian territory
The Israeli bulldozers target Kherbit Al Humsa and Furush Beit Dajan with demolition”
On the 12th of January 2012, the Israeli civil administration (ICA) accompanied by the Israeli Occupation army (IOA) and bulldozers raided Kherbit Al Humsa southeast of Tubas city and demolished agricultural facilities owned by Suleiman Bisharat and Nabeel Bisharat under the pretext of living in an area declared ‘Closed’ by the Israeli occupation authorities, to which Palestinians without permits are prohibited entry or living and though are considered illegal residents of the area and violate the instructions of the Israeli authorities.

Moreover, this isn’t the first time Kherbit Al Humsa has come under attack by the (ICA) as on the 22nd of June 2010, the ICA gave a
number of Bedouins families in Kherbit Al Humsa military orders ordering them to evacuate the area within 24 hours allegedly for being living in area declared as ‘closed’ for training, or “firing zones” and though have to evacuate the area as their presence is considered illegal, according to the Israeli claims.

In the same context, the Israeli civil administration (ICA) accompanied by the Israeli occupation army and bulldozers stormed Furush Beit Dajan southeast of Nablus city and demolished a residential structure and a Brix used for storing agricultural materials owned by farmer Kan’aan Mohammed. The bulldozers also demolished transmitter for water that provides an agricultural area of 100 dunums and owned by ten Palestinian families with water. The Israeli civil administration claims that the facilities were demolished due to lack of building permits.

It is worth mentioning that during the past few years, the Israeli occupation bulldozers targeted Furush Beit Dajan with demolition, where in April 2008, the Israeli bulldozers demolished five residential facilities in the area housing 31 family members. The first two tents were owned by resident Shihda Ibrahim abu awwad and were shelter for 15 family members; while the remaining three tents were owned by resident Jibril Muhammad Hasan Saray’a and were shelter for 16 family members. It is worth mentioning that the tents of Mr. Jibril were previously targeted with demolition due to their location in the area classified as ‘C’ according to OSLO II interim agreement of 1995.
To conclude
The Israeli allegations come on the basis that the notified Palestinian structures in either Kherbit Humsa or Furush beit Dajan communities have been built without obtaining the necessary building permits form the Israeli Civil Administration which holds responsibility over building and construction issues in areas ‘C’.
However, according to the Oslo agreements (OSLO I and OSLO II) signed between Israel and the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) in 1993 & 1995, Israeli forces redeployments were scheduled to take place so that by the end of year 1999, the Palestinians would gain control over 95% of the West Bank area; however, Israel did not comply with the signed agreements and proceeded to make delays on the transfer of powers and responsibilities relating to territory to the Palestinian National Authority (PNA), which led to only partial withdrawal from the Palestinian land. By March 2000, the areas under effective Palestinian control (area A) amounted to no more than 17.7 %; area B amounted to 18.3% of the total West Bank total area while the remaining area which constituted 64% of the total West Bank area (Area C and the Nature Reserve) remained under the full Israeli control and weren’t handed over to the Palestinians. Israel is illegally targeting Palestinian homes in areas under their control, which, according to the signed agreements, were supposed to be delivered back to the Palestinians.
