The Israeli occupation army issued a military order to seize a plot of land at the entrance to the village of Al-Tuwani, east of Yatta town, south of Hebron Governorate, for purposes described as “security reasons”.

Citizens found a military order on a “bus waiting station” at the entrance to the village, on 27/7/2022. The military order bears the number (22/14/T) and it is titled “An order regarding the seizure of lands,” signed by the commander of the occupation army in the West Bank, and it stated that the seizure of a plot of land with an area of 178 m² and for “security purposes” The military order indicated that the targeted land is located in the land basin No. 3 at the “Ain al-Jawaya” site.

In the same order, it was stated that the duration of the seizure of this piece starts from the date of its signature of the order and continues until (31/12/2027), and that the period of objection to is (7 days) starting from the date of carrying out a tour of the military commander on the target site, noting that no action has been taken after announcing the date of the tour until the date of preparing this report did not take place.

It is clear that the occupation army targeted a plot of land on the sides of the street leading to the village of Al-Tuwani (the main entrance to the village), which connects it to bypass road 317. These lands are owned by citizens of the Rabi’i and Abu Sabha families.

The head of Al-Tuwani Village Council, Mr. Muhammad Rabi’i, expressed his worry that the occupation army would impose a permanent closure on the entrance to his village, and expected the army to find a crossing or a tower and metal gates that would limit the movements of citizens coming to and leaving the village of Al-Tuwani.

Rabi’i also pointed out that the village of Al-Tuwani is the eastern gate through which citizens pass to and from the villages of Masafer Yatta that are threatened with deportation, and accordingly this military order comes to impose restrictions on the movements of the citizens of Masafer Yatta and the institutions that provide aid that contribute to the steadfastness of the citizens there.

It should be noted that the village of Al-Tuwani is one of the villages surrounded by settlements, colonial outposts, and bypass roads. It is surrounded by the settlement of “Ma’on” and “Avigal” and the bypass road from the west. The village witnesses continuous attacks on its citizens and agricultural lands, carried out by settlers and occupying soldiers.
