Violation details:

Since the beginning of this year (2022), the Israeli occupation authorities have escalated their targeting of citizens’ homes and facilities in the town of Kafr ad-Dik, west of Salfit Governorate, by sending notifications aimed at creating a vacuum in the region in light of the escalating settlement expansion in it.

Three notifications to stop work and construction:

According to the latest political developments in the area, the so-called construction inspector of the Israeli Civil Administration stormed again the western area of the town, known as “Bab al-Shaab” on the morning of Tuesday, 2/8/2022, and targeted three residential houses under construction through halting construction notices. Under the pretext of building without a license in Area C, according to the Oslo Accords.

According to the details contained in those notifications, the occupation set the date (26/8/2022) as the date for a session of the Construction and Organization Committee, which is based in the Beit El settlement, to consider the legality of the notified facilities.

The notified houses are owned by each of the following citizens: Tamer Muhammad Abdullah Yaqoub, Shurooq Hassan Ali Ahmad and Safaa Jabr Ali Ahmad.

It is worth noting that the town of Kafr ad-Dik, according to the field documentation of the Land Research Center, the occupation threatened from the beginning of January 2022 until the end of July 2022, 20 homes and facilities, from which 146 individuals, most of whom were children, were living.

Citizen Safaa Jabr Ali Ahmed (34 years old) told the field researcher at the Land Research Center the following:

“My husband, who works as an employee and I, have collected money for a long time in order to build the house, whose construction cost has so far reached 145,000 shekels, as we built it on land owned by us and there is no other site to build. What the occupation did caused us a state of anxiety. The occupation, did not leave us alone, and we do not know whether to continue building the house despite the financial hardship or stop, the situation is catastrophic here”.

Final demolition order:

On the same date, the occupation authorities issued a final order to stop work and demolish another house in the foundation stage, owned by Muhammad Afif Ali Ahmed. The occupation authorities demanded the demolition of the house within 7 days and threatened to carry the demolish if the citizen did not do so.

For his part, Mr. Mohamed Naji El-Deek, mayor of Kafr ad-Dik, told the field researcher of the Land Research Center the following:

“What is happening in the town of Kafr ad-Dik is catastrophic in every sense. There are orders that are widely distributed in the western and northern sides of the town, which have exceeded 40 notifications during the past and current years, and there are confiscations of lands on the northern side, not to mention the demolition of a ready-to-move-in house to the west. The town was preceded by the demolition of agricultural rooms north of the town, in addition to the almost daily attacks of the settlers, which take place here and there, to the extent that the presence of farmers on their lands has become a kind of risk, and the town of Kafr ad-Dik is a model for the size and type of attacks that are happening in the occupied territories”.
