Halt of Work notice for a residence in Birin Village / South Hebron

Description:

Sunday, June 7th 2020, the Israeli occupation authorities issued a halt of work notice on a residence belong to As’ad Burqan from Hebron.

Birin village council head told LRC:

“The building and organization department in the civil administration accompanied by an army patrol raided the area; the inspection officer wrote the notice and hanged it on the targeted structure.”

In notice (00579) , the occupation authorities ordered the immediate stoppage of construction works , and set June 17th 2020 as the date of the subcommittee session in Beit El military court to decide the fate of the structures.

Reportedly, the targeted house is built of cement and belongs to citizen As’ad Burqan, with an area of 100 m2; the house is also used to store agricultural tools.

The occupation authorities heavily targets Birin hamlet, and notified most houses and facilities in the village.

It is located to the southwest of Bani Na’im village and is inhabited by 300 people. The hamlet is edged by Bani Haiver colony from the east and the bypass road no. 60 from the west. Residents of the area were expelled from Negev area and now depend on agriculture and livestock husbandry as main sources of income. The hamlet accommodates one only primary school (1st- 7th grades). Birin (two water wells) was named after two water wells founded in the area.
