Demolition and confiscation of a barn in Khirbet Umm Al-Khair  – Yatta

Description:

Thursday , 2nd of May 2019 , the Israeli occupation authorities destroyed and confiscated the components of a barn belongs to Suliman Al-Hathaleen from Khirbet Umm Al-Kahair.

Affected citizen (65 years) said that an army force accompanied by a bulldozer raided the village before noon,  and using sharp tools cut the components of the barn of barbed wires , and confiscated them, while a bulldozer continued the demolition.

Reportedly, the targeted barn consists of barbed wires set on metal columns and covered by plastic sheets , the barn has an area of (150 m2), and contains about 100 cattle heads.

Al-Hathaleen built this barn in 2010 , and kept it maintained during climate change.

The owner told LRC reporter that the occupation authorities demolished the barn without any preceding military orders .

Noteworthy, Karmiel settlement is only few meters away from citizens’ homes in Khirbet Umm Al-Khair , the settlement witnesses continuous expansions , at the time the endogenous people are suffering from flagrant human rights preaches through demolishing their homes and confiscating their lands.

The khirbet is inhabited by people from Al-Hathaleen clan , who settled there several decades ago after Israel expelled them from the Arad desert in 1948 , it is reported that Umm Al-Khair population reached 686 people in 2017. the nearby settlement, Carmel which was established in 1981  , lies on lands confiscated from the Bedouin of that village. Carmel settlers frequently attack Bedouins of Umm al-Khair. Noteworthy, Regavim pro-settlement Israeli NGO targets the Khirbet , and provokes to demolish any new structures.

Regavim is active in Jerusalem and south Hebron , and follow up with colonial expansion, and demands the Israeli government to demolish Palestinian communities, such as Susiya, Zanota and Umm Al-Khair and expand Israeli colonies on the area instead.
