Stop-work  Orders in Shufa- Tulkarm Governorate

  • Victims: 7 Palestinian families, around 40 people.

Details:

Stop-work order on 800m land reclamation:

On January 29, 2017, Israeli Occupation Forces accompanied by Officer of Planning and Construction Committee- Israel Civil Administration broke into the northeastern side of Shufa village and notified farmer to stop reclamation works on his lands. Noteworthy, the targeted land is only 400 meters away from the buffer zone of Avnei Hefetz colony.

It should be noted that the targeted land is agricultural and is of 24 dunums in area. The owner ran reclamation activities on 800 meters before the occupation issues the stop-work order on the land.

Israeli Occupation Forces came back on February 09, 2017 and delivered the affected farmer a summon to appear before Beit El court on February 26, 2017 to consider the stop-work order.

Stop-work order on six residences:

In a step towards depriving the Palestinians from their basic rights, including their right to housing, Israeli troops accompanied by the so-called Israeli Civil Administration broke into the Palestinian village of Shufa and handed the citizens 6 stop-work and demolition orders. Noteworthy, most of the notified structures are still under construction except for one that is fully constructed.

According to the orders, the affected owners were given a deadline until February 26, 2017 to complete all licensing procedures. This comes in time with the hearing session of the Planning and Construction Committee- Israel Civil Administration in the court Beit El to consider the legal status of the notified structures.

About Shofa:

9.5km to the southeast of Tulkarm city, Shofa is inhabited with 2829 people on a total area of 10,969 dunums, of which 343 dunums are considered the built-up area.

It should be marked that the colony of Avnei Hefetz was established on 722 confiscated  dunums from Shofa village in 1987. Now, it  populates 964  colonists.

To the west of Shofa, Enav colony was established on confiscated lands from the village in 198. The colony is of 1566 dunums and has a built-up area of 696 where 550 colonists live (2005).

The bypass roads, especially took over 420 dunums from the village's lands.

According to Oslo Accords, the village's lands are classified as follows:

  • 1143 dunums are classified as area B
  • 9826 dunums are classified as area C
