Israeli Occupation Forces seal off the entrance of Beita town for the second time in a week

At early hour of Friday, May 04, 2017, Israeli Occupation Forces closed the western main entrance of Beita town, south Nablus city through cement blocks and earth mounds.
It should be noted that the Israeli Occupation Forces justified the closing act on the claim of "security purposes". Noteworthy, the road is crucial for the economy of the area, which hosts a fruits and vegetables market that provides jobs for hundreds of Palestinians.
The entrance is a passageway for 14,000 people, which connects them to their workplaces, schools and hospitals. By closing the road, residents of the area will be forced to find a new substitute road.
It should be also noted that this closure is the second of a type during a week. The first closure was imposed on April 28, 2017, which is at time of setting fire to the central market of vegetables and fruits in the area with an estimated losses of millions of shekels.

About Beita:
14 km to the south of Nablus, Beita is founded with a total land area of 17622 dunums, of which 1711 dunums are classified as area "C". Beita's built-up area reaches up to 3693 dunums accommodating 10859 people according to the census of 2015.
International conventions and laws regarding freedom of movement which Israel unabatedly violates:
- Article 3 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights: “Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person”.
- Article 5: “No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment”.
- Article 9: “No one shall be subjected to arbitrary arrest, detention or exile”.
- Article 13: Everyone has the right to freedom of movement and residence within the borders of each state.
Everyone has the right to leave any country, including his own, and to return to his country.
- Article 7 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights: “No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment. In particular, no one shall be subjected without his free consent to medical or scientific experimentation.”
- Article 9: “Everyone has the right to liberty and security of person. No one shall be subjected to arbitrary arrest or detention. No one shall be deprived of his liberty except on such grounds and in accordance with such procedure as are established by law.
